Wisconsin DOT announced the construction of temporary piers to support the section of the Leo Frigo Bridge which collapsed due to roadway’s failure.
Two steel towers will be placed on both sides of pier 22, which sunk by almost two feet due to piles’ corrosion, by Lunda Construction Company, in order to prevent further settlement. Additional lateral supports will be placed not only on the pier 22 but also on adjacent piers, where corrosion was previously detected, to keep them vertical. The repair works are scheduled to have finished by early November and the bridge will remain closed.
