The introduction was recorded by Dr. Ralph B. Peck at his home in Urbana, Illinois on August 20, 1965. Prof. Karl Terzaghi's opening lecture was recorded at Harvard University by Arthur Casagrande on February 4, 1957. The third part is a recording of Dr. Peck's special lecture at the ninth international conference on soil mechanics and foundation engineering in Tokyo, 1977.
