At least 24 people died after a landslide struck a village in Kyrgyzstan's southwest Osh region, Saturday. Reportedly there were nine children among the fatalities. A landslide of a volume of one million cubic metres came crashing down at 03:40 GMT Saturday in the village of Ayuu in Osh region and covered seven houses, six of them inhabited by 24 people in total. Emergency services personnel are working on-site to excavate the buried homes. Arrangements are being made for the evacuation of 40 families from the still potentially dangerous area.
