Rescuers in northern Peru are searching for townspeople buried by a landslide. Part of a hill collapsed in the northern Peruvian town of Retamas on Tuesday, burying dozens of homes, with harrowing footage on social media showing whole apartment buildings being covered by the landslide. Peru has high rates of informally-built housing, with homes often built on the edges of rivers or on the sides of hills prone to landslides.
