The objective of the Geo-Video competition is to develop short videos explaining various geotechnical concepts that could be used in classrooms at various levels (elementary school through college) and by the lay person to understand geotechnical principles. "Dan's Damn Dam" is an honorable mention video in the 2026 competition. It was created by Shanza Asif, Kate Bariahtris, Andrew Manni, and Ashley McElroy from Lafayette College. Their advisor was Mike McGuire. The Geo-Institute is a technical society with about 12,000 geotechnical engineers and geologists as members.
