2012 Monismith Lecture: Carl Monismith: Flexible Pavement Analysis and Design
Lecture Other Geotechnical Carl Monismith of the University of California Berkeley delivered the inaugural 2012 Carl Monismith Lecture on March 28, 2012 at Geo-Congress 2012 in Oakland, CA. His lecture was titled "Flexible Pavement Analysis and Design— A Half Century of Achievement."
The ASCE Geo-Institute (G-I) has established a Lecture in recognition of Professor Carl L. Monismith's contribution to Pavement Engineering. Professor Monismith's teaching and research career in pavement technology, at the University of California, Berkeley, spans more than 50 years. Throughout this period, he has mentored numerous graduate students who have disseminated advances in pavement technology around the world.
The C. L. Monismith Lecture will be awarded annually for outstanding research contributions in Pavement Engineerintion. He has published numerous papers that have won awards from the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists, the Transportation Research Board, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Professor Monismith has acted as a consultant on pavement research and design for a number of prominent organizations including the Asphalt Institute; the United States Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station, Vicksburg, Mississippi; Transport Canada; and the United States Air Force. He is also an active member of many professional societies and he has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the International Society for Asphalt Pavement.
