A video of an incident, that is hard to believe actually happened, has widely been circulated on the internet during this past weekend.
Furthermore, the video captured the moment that a drilling rig has pierced into the Mecidiyeköy - Istanbul Airport metro line tunnel and is continuing through the rails.
According to REUTERS, the country’s transport Ministry stated that repair works on the tunnel have already been completed.
The Turkish newspaper Sözcü reported that the possible disaster of a subway train colliding with the rig was avoided at the last minute, due to the train stopping due to a power outage caused by the incident.
