A section of the Charoenkrung Road in front of the Leng Noei Yi Temple (Wat Mangkorn Kammalawat) in Bangkok collapsed last week, affecting the area of the blue line’s extension underneath.
According to the construction supervisor Kamol Mahaphon, a crater about 25cm deep was created, so he ordered a further investigation. His team found that water leakage in the surrounded area reduced soil’s strength. The MRT tunnel, which is under construction at a depth of 25m, wasn’t damaged by the road failure, reassured the Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt.
