Bloomberg reports that the first (of three) segment of the New Jersey Energy Link that includes undersea and onshore transmission cables as well as power converter “hubs” and is expected to cost $1.8 billion and is backed by Google, has been awarded to Bechtel Group Inc. The link may carry as much as 3,000 megawatts of electricity and will span the state of New Jersey’s coastline when all phases are completed.
