After discovering differing ground conditions, Keller provided an alternative design for the new bus maintenance and storage facility at the City of Manilton.
The City of Hamilton constructed a new bus maintenance and storage facility to increase the transit division's capacity for its growing fleet. The facility will include a garage, maintenance bays, a parking garage, and a two-story office area. Ground conditions across the 41-acre site comprised poor-bearing soils, including a continuous peat layer with high compressibility.
Initial geotechnical reports recommended using rigid inclusions for ground improvement; however, through further investigation, Keller found discrepancies in the thickness and compressibility of the peat layer.
