Future-Ready Tripura: Green & Seismic-Resistant High-Rise on the Rise

In the heart of Agartala, a 14-storey government office complex is transforming Tripura’s infrastructure narrative. Slated for completion by December 2026, this Rs 133.89 crore G+14 project is more than just another high-rise—it’s a pioneering symbol of seismic safety and green design in India’s northeastern region. With Tripura classified under Seismic Zone 5, the building's earthquake-resistant engineering isn’t just a feature—it’s a necessity.

What makes this structure stand out is its state-of-the-art pendulum-based base isolation system, developed in the United States by Earthquake Protection System (EPS) and implemented with the technical expertise of IIT Mumbai. Designed to withstand quakes up to magnitude 8.8, this system allows controlled swaying of the building during seismic events, minimizing structural damage and enhancing occupant safety. With its base isolator already installed and foundation works completed, this is the first of its kind in Northeast India—and one of only a few such buildings in the entire country.

Beyond resilience, the building has achieved a four-star rating in green building safety, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable development. Once operational, the structure will consolidate all government directorate offices under one roof, reducing bureaucratic delays and improving public service delivery. Citizens will no longer need to travel across the city for paperwork—the government will now be housed in one efficient, climate-resilient hub.
