Flood in Colorado leads to 3 deaths and many disasters

Heavy rain ended up to flood Colorado. Three deaths are reported and a woman is missing. Rescuers’ job was impeded as the roads were inaccessible and the sky should be clear for the helicopters to fly.

When the ground is saturated by the rain two factors can avoid the flood. The first is to reduce the rain and the second is to find a way for the water to escape.  In Colorado the rain was increasing its rate resulting in a terrible storm and the fires that occurred in the nearby forests during the last years obliterated the plants that could trap moisture. As a result the underground water couldn’t elude or the escape was not quick enough, so the water accumulated leading to flood. Overflow of five dams in Lyons, closing of many roads and building collapses were some of the disastrous consequences. Despite the dangerous roads for driving, the area was partially evacuated, while schools and university remained, as expected, closed. See also the video under "Media" below.
